Bible Notes - Psalm 1:1

Psalm 1:1 – Three groups - 1) Ungodly, 2) Sinners, 3) Scornful

         Three motions – 1) Walketh, 2) Standeth, 3) Sitteth

         Three places – 1) Counsel, 2) Way, 3) Seat

Ungodly – One who is opposing the things of God, whether openly or in private. Don’t be caught walking in his footsteps or heeding his counsel.

Sinner – One violating God’s word, but merely sinning, not opposing God. Don’t stand with that man so to be lumped in with his sin, get out of the way of sin.

Scornful – Disdainful, foolishly mocking. Don’t join the crowd of scorners who sat round the Cross mocking the one who died for man. Don’t be in the company of those who will mock and scorn God, His word and His people.
